Thesis: Aircraft carriers compared to buildings and cities

With the speed of 60 kilometres per hour a structures over 300 meters long moves through water. Vehicles drive around on deck of the USS Enterprise to bring aeroplanes in position for take off. The ship with more then 6000 persons is powered by nuclear engines.  A surgery, dentist, mail office, church, bar, library, there are many things moving on water which can also be found in a regular city.

In a city people normally have a home that offers privacy, gives shelters to their personal belongings and offers them  possibility for hobbies. A mattress and locker are the only personal items for the sailor. The people at sea are paid to be there.

I estimated a FAR (Floor Area Ratio) of 22 and 0,4 person per square metre. It Happens that people don't see daylight for a few days. When a new crew gets on board they have special training to find their way around the ship.
